Simple Steps That Can Improve Cyber Security

Your daily essentials
🔒 Use strong, unique passwords
Never reuse passwords across accounts. Use a password manager to create and store passwords safely.
📱 Turn on two-factor authentication
Add a second step to log in — a code from an app or SMS. Even if your password is leaked, attackers are unable to log in.
🔄 Keep softwares updated
Enable auto-updates on your phone, computer, and apps — browsers like Chrome, Safari or Edge. Software updates fix security issues before attackers can take advantage of them.
📶 Stay careful on public Wi-Fi
Avoid logging into bank or email accounts on public Wi-Fi networks found in cafes, airports, hotels, and libraries. Using a VPN adds an extra layer of protection on public hotspots.
✉️ Think before you click
Phishing is when attackers send fake emails or messages pretending to be someone you trust to steal your information. On a computer, hover the mouse over a link to preview and check the legitimacy of the destination before clicking. When in doubt, go directly to the website.
☁️ Back up your data
Keep copies of important files on an external drive or cloud service. Ransomware — malicious software that locks your files and demands payment — and device loss are real risks — Regular backups are your safety net.
⚠ Watch out for scams:

🔑 Legitimate banks, government agencies, and tech companies will never call or text you asking for your password, OTP (One-Time Password) code, or Social Security number. Hang up and call them directly.

🔕Be aware of AI voice cloning scams — attackers can fake a friend's or family member's voice in a call to urgently request money or personal information. Always verify by calling that person on a known number before acting on the request.
