Your daily essentials
๐ Use strong, unique passwords
Never reuse passwords across accounts. Use a password manager to create and store passwords safely.
๐ฑ Turn on two-factor authentication
Add a second step to log in โ a code from an app or SMS. Even if your password is leaked, attackers are unable to log in.
๐ Keep softwares updated
Enable auto-updates on your phone, computer, and apps โ browsers like Chrome, Safari or Edge. Software updates fix security issues before attackers can take advantage of them.
๐ถ Stay careful on public Wi-Fi
Avoid logging into bank or email accounts on public Wi-Fi networks found in cafes, airports, hotels, and libraries. Using a VPN adds an extra layer of protection on public hotspots.
โ๏ธ Think before you click
Phishing is when attackers send fake emails or messages pretending to be someone you trust to steal your information. On a computer, hover the mouse over a link to preview and check the legitimacy of the destination before clicking. When in doubt, go directly to the website.
โ๏ธ Back up your data
Keep copies of important files on an external drive or cloud service. Ransomware โ malicious software that locks your files and demands payment โ and device loss are real risks โ Regular backups are your safety net.
โ Watch out for scams:
๐ Legitimate banks, government agencies, and tech companies will never call or text you asking for your password, OTP (One-Time Password) code, or Social Security number. Hang up and call them directly.
๐Be aware of AI voice cloning scams โ attackers can fake a friend's or family member's voice in a call to urgently request money or personal information. Always verify by calling that person on a known number before acting on the request.
